The Final Study on Sustainable Surety, within the framework of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), presents the findings of a research on the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) risk factors into surety bond underwriting of (big) infrastructure projects.

PASA has contributed a lot to this study through the work of Mr. Marco Schiattone (Surety Committee former president) and of Professor Matthew Shea (West Chester University of Pennsylvania), who jointly developed a survey among PASA members on sustainable surety practice and presented their conclusions at the Cancun Assembly (2016). Mr. Schiattone worked afterwards on the report with an international team of surety professionals and academics.

This Study, already finished, represents an important step forward in global surety practice and a remarkable achievement for our Association. We are therefore making it available for all PASA members in order that its dissemination may encourage the surety industry’s healthy development.
